How do I change my child's card to a Branch Out card?

Answer

All Gwinnett County Public School students have the option of acquiring a fine free library card through the Gwinnett County Public Library.  This card provides full access to the library collection. The student accounts remain fine free until the student graduates from high school.  Students can choose to use either their GCPS Student ID or a library issued card as a means to check out both print and digital items but it is recommended that they retain the student ID as their library card number.  Students can use their school portal to apply for a student card.  Students that already have library cards can visit one of the 15 branch locations and speak with a staff member about updating their library account to a student card.  In most cases, students automatically have Gwinnett county library accounts under their student ID number unless a parent or guardian has opted out of this service.

All Gwinnett County Public School staff and faculty members are also eligible for these fine-free cards.

In addition, Gwinnett county homeschool students can obtain fine free cards through this program.

Unfortunately, this program does not extend to homeschool teachers but they are still eligible for a free library card if they live in Gwinnett county.

Please call 770-978-5154 or speak with a staff member at your preferred branch location for more details.
