Q. Does the Gwinnett County Public Library provide passport services?

Answer

Starting on Friday April 13th, 2018 the Buford branch of the Gwinnett County Public Library will be offering passport processing.

Hours for passport processing will be:  Monday through Thursday from 11 AM to 7 PM and Friday through Sunday from 12 noon to 3 PM.  Please note the last application will be started 30 minutes prior to the end of the schedule (6:30 and 3:30) and no one will be accepted after this.

This service is intended for first time applicants only, no renewals will be accepted.

This is a walk in service and will be on a first come, first served basis - no advance appointments can be made

Passport photos will NOT be taken and must be brought along with all of the required paperwork

Please refer to this website for more information about required documentation - U. S. Passports

Customers need two forms of payment:

  • $35 cash or check for processing that will be paid to the library
  • Check or money order to send to the Department of State to pay for the Passport Book
  • Expedited service requires an additional fee of $60

Passport applications are accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis. We do not accept reservations. Due to the high volume of applications, there are times when we reach our capacity for the day and must stop accepting applications before our scheduled closing time.

Please call 770-978-5154 if you have questions or need additional information.

  1. This is a great service to add. I have made appointments twice to get my daughter's passport and both times they were cancelled on the day of the appointment by the Post Office. Glad to find this option. Thank you Gwinnett County Public Library!
