Q. How do I request books on line?

I tried before without sucess.

Answer

If you want to request books that will be picked up at the library, you can visit the library's web site and search for them in the catalog. To access the catalog click Catalog located in the top left hand corner of the library home page located at www.gwinnettpl.org

Once you have searched for and found the book you would like to request, click the Place Request link to the right of the screen or title depending on your current view.

You will then be asked for your library card number and PIN. Enter these and hit "Login." Then you will be able to choose where you would like to pick it up. Then you click Submit Request and Continue.

After requesting a title you can either Log Out, Go To Your List of Hold Requests or Return to Search Results. If you "Return to search results" you will not have to enter your library card number and PIN for any other books you choose to request during that session.

Once the book is available, you will receive an e-mail at the e-mail linked to your account, a text to the cell number on file or both. The notification will tell you how long you have before the hold expires and the book returns to the shelf or fills another request.

If you have any questions or want to learn how to check out e-books or downloadable audio books, please let us know.

You can also speak with someone on staff at your local branch and they will be able to walk you through the process.
