Q. What does in-transit mean?

Answer

When an item is listed as in-transit this means that it is being transferred between branches.  Some items belong specifically to one branch and they are not part of the floating collection.  Examples are magazines and the Atlanta Zoo DVD.  These items belong to a particular branch and if they are returned to a different branch they have to be routed back to their "home" location.  Items in transit usually take about 2-3 days to arrive at their destination.
