What is Kindergarten Here We Come?

Answer

Gwinnett County Public Library’s brand new initiative, Kindergarten, Here We Come! is designed to help you set your little one up for kindergarten success. This program is intended to grow with you and your family. This is a tool for you to track your reading, get new activity ideas, and empower you as a parent and caregiver.

If you’ve already started your path towards reading 1000 Books before Kindergarten, keep up the amazing work! If this is the beginning of your journey, go ahead and log a few of your favorite books now. As you track your reading journey you'll be rewarded with digital badges and when you hit that 1000 book milestone, we’d love for you to visit us at one of the Gwinnett County Public Library branches so we can reward you and celebrate your accomplishment.

To reinforce important early literacy skills, check out all the new activity badges. Letter Camp will help teach and strengthen your child’s alphabetic awareness while Preschool Playground focuses on critical skills needed to excel in kindergarten. To find more developmentally appropriate activities that are perfect for your little one, try our Ready to Read badges. Each contains fun tips, activities, and resources intended to help you integrate reading, writing, playing, singing, and talking into your daily routines. Just find your child’s age or developmental level and start at #1. As you finish each badge you’ll unlock the next. Don’t feel the need to rush through anything. Take your time and really focus on the things you love. We’ll add new content every month!

For more awesome resources and programs, follow us on FacebookYouTube, and check our webcalendar at https://gwinnettpl.libnet.info/events. If you can make it, join us for weekly Live Storytimes! Be sure to pre-register here for Sept. 29th or here for Oct. 2nd!
