How do I sign up for a library card online?

Answer

You can register for a temporary library account by going here - My Library Card

After registering you will be given a temporary barcode number.  Unfortunately, this card number will not allow you to access our digital resources and you will also not be able to login to your account to place requests.

You will need to visit a branch location of the Gwinnett County Public Library within the next 30 days to complete your registration and receive your permanent physical library card.  The permanent card will give you full access to library materials both physical and digital and many of the digital resources can be accessed from your home computer.  When you come in to get your physical card please make sure to bring something with you that has your name and Gwinnett county address on it like a driver's license, a utility bill or a mortgage or lease statement.  Without proof of residence in Gwinnett County the library account cannot be converted to full access.

Pre-registration/temporary cards are set to expire in one month but once converted to full access accounts do not expire.

Note: you may access downloadable materials (e-books, audiobooks, video, music) from OverDrive after you visit a branch and complete card registration.

The temporary card number you will receive will look like this:

Click here to link to the online registration page and click on the button that says "Apply for a library card."
