Q. How do I request books online?
If you want to place a request for a particular item, you can visit the library's web site and search for them in the catalog. To access the catalog start at www.gwinnettpl.org and then click Find It which appears in a blue box. In the drop down menu you will see a link to Go to the main catalog page. Click here to go search the library catalog.
Once you have searched for and found the book you would like to request, click the Place A Hold link to the right of the screen or title depending on your current view.
You will then be asked for your library card number and PIN. Enter these and hit "Login." The book will be sent to your home branch by default, but this can be changed from your account page as needed.
On the Settings page in your Library Dashboard you can select the option for Single Click Holds which appears in the Account Preferences section of your setting. This way you don't have to click Confirm each time you place a request, it will go through with one click of the Place a Hold button.
Once the book is available, you will receive an e-mail at the e-mail linked to your account, a text to the cell number on file or both. The notification will tell you how long you have before the hold expires and the book returns to the shelf or fills another request.
