If I lose a book then find it do I still have to pay a fee when I bring it back?

Answer

Lost items that have been paid for by the customer, either partially or in full, may be eligible for a refund if found and returned in good condition to the library within 30 days of payment. Recovered Lost items older than 30 days are not eligible for refunds and become the property of the customer.

However if you have found a lost item and have not yet paid the replacement fee, upon returning the item a maximum late fee of $8.00 or $5.00, depending on whether the item is hardcover or paperback, will be charged to your account.

Please feel free to contact the library at 770-978-5154 during open hours or speak to someone in person at any library branch location regarding your account.

We would need your library card number and date of birth in order to access your account or you can show picture ID in person at one of our locations.

If you have a fine exempt account (18 and under or 65 and older), once the item is returned there will be no remaining fees.
