I just received a letter/call from a collections agency. What do I do now?

Answer

If you have been contacted by Unique National Collections this means that the fee balance on your account reached or exceeded $25 and has remained at this balance for 30 days or more.  The letter or call you received indicates that because of this balance the account has been submitted to the library's collections agency and an additional $10 fee has been added.

In order to resolve this matter, you will need to go online to make a payment on your library account or visit your preferred branch to make your payment.  Checkout privileges will be suspended until the fee balance is paid in full.

Please note that your account will not ever be submitted for credit reporting but it will remain in collections until the balance is paid in full.  Once you have paid off the account you may request a paid in full letter if you need documentation that it has been paid.

If you would like to talk about negotiating the fees on the account you will need to visit your preferred branch and ask to speak with a supervisor.  They might be able to work with you.

If you have additional questions please feel free to call the library at 770-978-5154.
